Wreath Recycling Volunteering

  • Green Lawn Cemetery 1000 Greenlawn Avenue Columbus, OH, 43223 United States (map)

We are looking at a wreath cleanup event on Saturday, January 11, 2025. 10:00am-12:00pm.

Volunteers are needed to help disassemble the wreaths at Green Lawn Cemetery so the evergreens can be mulched and metal wreath frames recycled.  Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing to stay warm. Work gloves will be provided.

850 Remembrance Wreaths were recently placed on the graves of Veterans in Section 71 of Green Lawn Cemetery. The annual Wreaths Across America event occurs every December and has become a tradition that honors & remembers those who served our country.

Meet Location:  Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus, OH 43223.  Drive through the cemetery gate at the west end of Greenlawn Avenue, drive around the historic traffic circle and meet at the stone office building on your right.  After a brief orientation we will caravan together back to Section 71.

Opened in 1849, Green Lawn Cemetery is Ohio's second largest cemetery spanning 325 acres. We are a registered arboretum featuring remnants of native, mixed oak forest with trees 200-300 years old. We are also a part of the Scioto River- Greenlawn Important Bird Area.
